The Financial Analyst will take on projects and be a functional accountant for specific areas
within Finance.   This position is responsible for implementing templates and processes for
various accounting functions, maintaining receivables and payables, facilitating the account
analysis templates and review functions, analyzing monthly transactions, and preparing top level monthly journal entries for consolidated accounting transactions.  The FA will be the lead accountant responsible for organizational processes in place to maintain accurate
balances in accounts, review stale items, and analyze inconsistencies within the general
ledger.  

Main Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the month-end close process, accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll entries, and other monthly tasks as assigned.
  • Coordinate with branch contacts the donor system/accounting system monthly reconciliation and analyze monthly to ensure discrepancies are corrected per the policy. 
  • Create templates and maintain processes for the quarterly Account Analysis function for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Review and coordinate the clean up of stale checks, invoices, and reconciliation items for all branches in the accounting system.
  • Review and manage fixed assets for all branches; ensure any new assets added are set up properly for depreciating, ensure consistency of fixed asset entry and processes.
  • Review and maintain prepaid and deferred revenue schedules and prepare journal entries to correctly reflect accurate balances. 
  • Produce and issue timely reports upon request.
  • Perform monthly/quarterly analysis and alert the Controller or CFO to any financial anomalies.
  • Support the Financial Analyst with annual budget and forecast tasks.
  • Assist with schedules and support needed for annual audit and Form 990 tax filing.
  • Set priorities and goals for daily work and projects.
  • Establish and maintain corporate accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure conformance with GAAP and internal accounting and reporting guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls to verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data.
  • Ensure accounting systems and processes are continually streamlined via process improvement and automation to achieve greater efficiencies, accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
  • Ensure that the operational and design effectiveness of internal controls is maintained.
  • Provide reports as requested to the Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and/or the Executive Management Team.
  • Perform duties as assigned or directed.  
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • Non-profit accounting experience required.
  • Minimum 10 years total experience.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to apply a positive team approach to produce quality results in an efficient manner.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Experience with Intacct accounting system a plus.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Able to perform sedentary work including working at a workstation and performing repetitive keyboarding activities. 
  • Able to operate general office equipment.  Visual and hearing acuity necessary to operate equipment, use telecommunication, read fine print, and utilize a computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday. 
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.  Some physical effort may be required.
