Position Title: Food Program Coordinator

Reporting To: Executive Director

Location: Joint Base Lewis-McChord
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Part-time: 15-30 hours per week
Hourly rate: $18-$22 per hour depending on qualifications


POSITION SUMMARY:
The Food Assistance Program Coordinator executes day-to-day duties, including but not limited to sorting, stocking, and purchasing food for the ASYMCA Food Market and branch operations, oversight of periodic volunteers and food distribution initiatives, and delivering excellent customer service. We are looking for someone who can stretch a dollar, find the best deals, and fill our pantry closet with healthy food for those in need of emergency assistance food. This part-time position is approximately 15 hours per week with specific shifts depending on program operating hours. This position is an exciting opportunity to help build and develop a new food pantry operation at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and has the potential to grow into a larger role as programming expands. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Ensures the delivery of exceptional customer service to pantry patrons.
  2. Sort items received through donations 
  3. Solicits and provides direction to volunteers
  4. Performs computer duties related to tracking donations, patron metrics, etc.
  5. Ensures the pantry is clean and stocked as needed.
  6. Handles pick up and purchasing of food for the pantry.
  7. Assist with social media presence and other public relations initiatives.
  8. Maintain open communication with Executive Director regarding program needs an opportunities.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned to support food insecurity programs at the branch.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Possess solid organization and planning skills. Be proficient in multitasking. 
  3. Must be able to function in various work environments and work with multiple internal departments and external donors and organizations. Strong communication skills are a preferred
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Suites and CRM based software
  5. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and prioritize work assignments with minimal guidance.
  6. Experience with military lifestyles/military community is appreciated but not necessary.
  7. Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  8. Must be able to pass background checks to obtain base access.
  9. Work experience with a non-profit organization is a plus, but not necessary.
  10. Desire to work on a team and have a CAN-DO attitude
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  1. Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions.
  2. Must be able to lift 20 pounds. 
  3. Have the availability to work weekends as needed to support program operations and special events.
  4. Expected to complete local pickups and food runs.
