POSITION:  School-Age Care Bus Driver

STATUS: CURRENTLY HIRING! Positions available for TWO Programs IMMEDIATELY!
                1-SCHOOL YEAR -- Split Shift--(September-June), Part-time
                2-SUMMER CAMP--(end of June-mid-August), Part-time, Times Vary
                   Pay- Up to $19/Hour     

HOURS: Up to 20 hours/week, Monday - Friday
SCHOOL YEAR, 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.; and
SUMMER CAMP, Wednesdays, 8:30-11:30 AM weekly, and 2 additional field trips per week (approximately 4 hours/trip)

ASSIGNMENT

The SCHOOL-AGE CARE (SAC) BUS DRIVER will assist with the transportation needs of the academy and will primarily transport students between their schools and the academy for Before and After School Care. This position will also include up to three (3) field trips per week during Summer Camp. The SAC Bus Driver will work under the direct supervision of the Business Operations Director and SAC Program Director. Drivers will be required to provide a clean, happy and safe environment that promotes the safe travel and security of our children. This position requires an enthusiastic, caring, child- centered professional with excellent communication and people skills while fostering positive interactions with students, staff, families and the community.

EUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • · High School Diploma or GED or verification of completion of a home school program approved      by  the state
  • · Previous experience with the operation of a 15-passenger van, Minibus, or similar

ADDITIONAL REQUISITES

  •   Must be 21 years of age;
  • · Complete a background check;
  • · Comply with Virginia Dept. of Social Services licensing requirements for child day centers;
  • · Have a valid driver’s license and good driving record (CDL not required, but preferred)
  • · MAT Certification and CPR, a plus;
  • · Knowledge of the military lifestyle, a plus); and
  • · Must be able to lift 25 lbs., bend, sit, stand for long periods of time and walk up and down stairs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • · Complete staff and organization training to acquire knowledge and methodologies to implement      a high-quality environment to promote a healthy, safe, environmental for students;
  • · Exemplify the ASYMCA character values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty;
  • · Supervise children at all times, making sure no child is left unattended (regularly complete name-    face counts);
  • · Adhere to all policies/procedures as set forth in the parent/guardian and employee handbooks;
  • · Transport students on the school bus following designated routes; to include picking up and            dropping off students as scheduled;
  • · Coordinate with school staff to ensure each child listed is in attendance;
  • · Perform Pre/Post vehicle inspections to ensure the safe operation of each bus;
  • · Refuel buses as necessary;
  • · Maintain an organized, safe transport vehicle, securing all ASYMCA materials and supplies;
  • · Complete daily cleaning and sanitizing to include: ensuring all surfaces, seats, and belts are            sanitized, remove any trash or debris, mop transport vehicle floors when necessary following all      outlined regulations/requirements;
  • · Model healthy habits and behaviors: hand-sanitizing, cleanliness, and taking appropriate actions    when sneezing/coughing, etc.;
  • · Report suspected child abuse or neglect, notifying SAC Program Director immediately;
  • · Document all incidents and injuries, following all policies and procedures as per licensing                regulations specified by the Virginia Department of Social Services and NECPA;
  • · Communicate vehicle concerns to the Business Operations Director immediately;
  • · Check ASYMCA email daily and respond promptly to requests;
  • · Dress professionally, wearing ASYMCA staff shirts with name badge, keeping in mind that this        position serves as the role model for students, recognizing staff represents the Armed Services      YMCA of Hampton Roads at all times;
  • · Log work hours daily using the electronic time-card (ADP) for approval by supervisor (pay is            directly deposited twice monthly);
  • · Serve as a substitute driver as needed; and
  • · Other duties, as assigned.
